Gone Shopping.
If you’re interested in history (or, say, 19c a pound coffee or nickel a pound sugar), there’s a wall full of photographs and displays of ad sheets, correspondence, and ephemera down at the end of the room….
And if you have memories or comments, you can leave them at the desk in the center where they will be posted for the perusal of other visitors….
So all this time and wordage about the store and museum, I should probably tell you how to get there, right?
The Address is 200 Carroll, which is about a block south of White Settlement between Henderson and University. It’s part of the Fort Worth Screen Printing Co. (I’ll throw them a link just for hosting this very nicely done little bit of Fort Worth history.)
The museum itself is free (Sadly the burgers and shakes next door aren’t…) and well worth a look for a dose of history and nostalgia. And you might leave as I did, wondering if maybe, just maybe, a store that ran on the Leonard Brothers Creed might just work today.
27 April 2018 — (Late Update)(WAY Late Update)(Like four and a half YEARS late… yeah, I blew it):
Gent on Facebook just politely pointed out that the museum has a Facebook page with a lot of other interesting things, pictures, and whatnots. It’s here. If you’re on FuBar, take a look….
Google says the museum is here:
