And yeah… ran into several old acquaintances, people I’ve been running into for years on the fringes of the “Living History” community…

“Professor Paisley,” sometimes known as Larry Heidbreder, and his friends Justice and Liberty (That’s Justice on the left, giving me that side-eyed “I’ve got long horns and I’d love to stick them into you” look…)

They did get a little rambunctious but since they were securely yoked together there wasn’t that much they could DO except rattle their horns together and get in each other’s way…

The boys are getting a little long in the tooth (and the horn) at age 14, and they’re just not all that interested in working so hard any more, so Silas and Paul (shown here with Mizz Claudia Jean) are in training to take up the reins, as it were. Silas and Paul are 10 months old, and if you can’t tell, they’re twin brothers with markings that are just almost identical.

Hope your trek into Texas’s past and making a connection with an interesting gold mine of information on local history helps to perk up your spirits! I’m sorry I missed it, sorrier that I missed hearing from the gold mine myself. Wonderful shot, by the way! Looks very John Ford, beginning of “The Serchers.”
