Las Pastores de Belen

Lucifer still hasn’t figured out who the shepherd girl is, but he can’t beat her, so he tells her off instead – and she walks away.

Lucifer is now officially ticked. Nobody walks away from the Prince of the Earth. NOBODY.

Lucifer comes back from Hell… with reinforcements. They stand around and make bad speeches to each other for a while.

Lucifer interrupts his return to Bethlehem to kidnap a shepherd, more or less because he can. He’s a jerk. It’s his job.

Lucifer and his buddies toss the shepherd into hell. (not to worry; she escapes when they aren’t looking)

Love this post, and the photos are gorgeous. Sorry you didn’t get the Pastorela, of course. The title reminds me of a Christmas carol I learned in high school, and that a classmate and I brought to our choir practice. The choir director was planning an “international” Christmas program of music — the French carol “Jeannette Isabella” (but we only had the words in English), “Adeste Fideles,” “Stille Nacht, Heilege Nacht,” and the Spanish carol “Pastores a Belen.” If you want, you can see the lyrics here: http://karenaboutgenealogy.blogspot.com/search/label/Christmas%20carols .

  Pretty sure that’s one of the songs the shepherds were singing “on the road” during the play, but they weren’t mic’ed and they weren’t loud so it was difficult to hear. I do remember hearing it a long long LONG time ago in Spanish class in high school, and it was lovely as long as I only pretended to sing along…. 😉
